Project 02 · Offline-First B2B SaaS MVP

Project: RefTech

A zero-latency dashboard for recording referee decisions, built as an offline-first B2B SaaS MVP for Hamburg Rugby Club. Every input is captured without network dependency, rendered for sunlight readability and queued locally in IndexedDB.

Live match simulator

Touch targets from 80 px height, maximum contrast, zero animation delay.

All events are stored exclusively on the device. This prototype deliberately never contacts a sync target.

Field validation · Operating equipment

Beta testing under physical strain

Olivier Jacob personally beta-tests RefTech as an active referee live on the rugby pitch — under running load, contact pressure and rain. This test methodology cannot be simulated: only in live match operation does it show whether touch targets stay accurate with wet hands and whether the local queue writes correctly under time pressure. This creates an immediate operational necessity for official equipment as test apparatus.

Referee uniform

An official referee jersey and kit are a prerequisite for being admitted to match operation — and therefore a prerequisite for every live test of the software in its real deployment context.

Cleats

On wet grass, grip determines positioning. Without cleats, the proximity to play that governs capture speed cannot be established.

Protective gear

Rain and cold protection secure multi-hour test sessions in northern German weather conditions and shield the test device carried on the body.
